JUNIOR SCIENTISTS

Sitka Whalefest is in its 17th year of bringing amazing scientists to Sitka to share their passion with local students. SWF would like to invite you to join the fun this year! BMS students will get the unique opportunity to ask questions and interact with a marine scientist from 12:00-12:45PM on Friday, November 1st. Join Reid Brewer, Fisheries Technology professor and octopus biologist, to learn about his path to becoming a marine biologist and all of the exciting parts of working professionally as a scientist. We then invite you to attend this year’s kick-off lecture, “The Cultural Exchange of Whaling Traditions” with Don Sineti and Craig George, from 1:00-1:45PM.The lecture and meet-and-greet will be held at Harrigan Centennial Hall. An adult guardian is responsible for picking up and dropping off their child at the registration table, just inside Centennial Hall. The meet-and-greet and first lecture is $5. Each additional lecture is an additional $5. Scholarships are available.
